Site Manager: Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the project schedule.
  • Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule as needed.
  • Review project plans and specifications, commenting on scheduling, possible cost saving measures and potential construction problems.
  • Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements.
  • Have confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with design team, consultants, client as well as effetely lead the trades.
  • Contact, schedule and coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers and utilities.
  • Control and monitor labour, material and equipment needs and scheduling of delivery
  • Inform the project manager of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the consultants design drawings.
  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of both Worksafe Regulations and Yager Construction’s Health & Safety Program are enforced.
  • Coordinate and direct good construction standards and quality control.
  • Ascertain that foreman and lead carpenters are well qualified and are efficiently carrying out duties assigned.
  • See that good housekeeping practices are observed and maintained by both Yager’s crews and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a neat and tidy site office and meeting room.
  • Ensure that the project site is secured each night.
  • Attend pre-construction and construction meetings, taking notes on areas that may present a future problem and present to Project Manager for consultation.
  • Maintain good relationships with inspectors, consultants, engineers, clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that ‘as built’ drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period.
  • Coordinate all required municipal inspections as mandated.
  • Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists.
