Description

Vetspeed Ltd are looking to appoint a Site Manager at our location in Tewkesbury. This is a multi-functional site, operating as both a pet crematorium and as a waste transfer station.
The Site Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the site. The role will include the control of all operations and logistics functions of the site within all legal, technical, and environmental constraints to ensure that the business operates smoothly & efficiently.
The role will work very closely with other departments across the group and the site manager will be expected to form strong lines of communication with other departments, as well as with members of their own team. This will especially be the case in terms of Health and Safety, Transport, Compliance and Client Services.
Reporting directly to the Regional Operations Manager they will be a member of the company’s management team and will represent the site at monthly management meetings.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  1. Responsible for the running and management of all operational functions including cremation, waste management, transport, warehousing, packing and communication functions.
  2. Operator licence and vehicle compliance currently running 3.5T – 7.5T vehicles and liasing with head office for larger trunk vehicles. Transport Managers CPC required.
  3. Overseeing routing and planning changes of the transport operations.
  4. Waste management compliance and ADR compliance, ideally with Waste Management COTC. Maintaining strong relationships with APHA and EA.
  5. Oversee and enhance departmental performance, focusing on H&S and environmental compliance, efficiency, profitability and service quality, ensuring alignment with company policies, procedures, budgetary constraints and statutory regulations. Keeping up to date with legislative changes.
  6. Provide cover for the site supervisor roles during periods of absence and annual leave.
  7. Ensure that the department is sufficiently resourced in terms of plant, premises, equipment and people.
  8. Lead & develop team members, ensuring all staff are appropriately trained and competent to enable them to fulfil their duties.
  9. Adopt a lean management philosophy and implement strict & effective cost control measures within the department by closely monitoring productivity levels, throughput figures and processing costs of cremation plant.
  10. Produce financial and operational forecasts in line with company requirements.
  11. Maintaining site operations to ensure efficient transfer of waste materials between customer sites, group depots and third party disposal sites.
  12. Set and monitor key objectives for direct reports and carry out documented regular performance appraisals to measure and track their progress.
  13. Provide regular management reports and ensure completion of departmental KPIs.
  14. Work closely with senior management to produce annual site CAPEX requirements.

IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  1. Possess a Transport CPC, and ideally a COTC qualification.
  2. Be able to lead in disciplinary and grievance matters.
  3. Have a good understanding of the Office 365 suite, specifically Excel.
  4. Understand transport and warehouse related software.
  5. Be able to demonstrate a good understanding, and be proficient in, route planning.
  6. Have the ability to write RA & MS.
