Our Cambridge based recycling client is looking to recruit a new Site Operations Manager to run a recycling and transfer station they have in Prickwillow.
This is a fairly small recycling/sorting site with 6 yard staff, 8 drivers and a couple of people in the office.
As Site Ops manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of the site which takes in mixed recycling and waste and sorts it into various materials which is then collected and taken to one of the companies processing sites to be recycled, therefore a background in recycling or waste would be beneficial.
A proven track record in site and people management would also be ideal as you will need to lead the team from the front, with health and safety being of key importance as well as training and development for the team. For example my client often likes the yard staff to be multi-trained to help cover various sections when needed, so sorting staff are often trained on plant machinery and forklifts etc which is great for staff progression and retention.
You will also need to be fairly computer literate, some of the backend of the work involves analytics to optimise operations, of course you will be trained to use their in-house software anyway.
The basic hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm (1 hour lunch) with time and one half paid after 40 hours per week, the basic salary is negotiable but will be between £37k-£45K dependant on experience.
