Job Overview:
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with Compliance Expertise, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our payments infrastructure while maintaining compliance with industry standards. This role requires expertise in cloud operations (Azure), automation, security best practices, and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC 2). You will collaborate with engineering, security, and compliance teams to enhance system reliability and streamline audit processes.
Key Responsibilities:

Site Reliability & Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, implement, and manage a highly available payments gateway infrastructure in Azure and on Prem.
  • Maintain and optimize databases, virtual networks, firewalls, application gateways, load balancers, web applications, IPS/IDS systems, and logging workspaces.
  • Implement observability and monitoring solutions to ensure real-time alerting and incident response.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and failover processes to improve system resilience.
  • Lead incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) for service disruptions.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure PCI DSS, SOC 2, and other regulatory compliance across cloud infrastructure and operations.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices, including network segmentation, access controls, and encryption.
  • Work with auditors and security teams to maintain compliance documentation and audit readiness.
  • Manage and improve logging, SIEM, and threat detection tools to support compliance requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with security awareness training for engineering and operations teams.

On-Call & Incident Response:

  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 system availability and incident resolution.
  • Develop and refine runbooks, automated playbooks, and escalation procedures.
  • Work with external vendors (MSSP, cloud providers) for security monitoring and threat response.

Performance Optimization & Cost Management:

  • Optimize Azure cloud costs while maintaining performance and security.
  • Conduct load testing, capacity planning, and performance tuning to ensure low-latency transaction processing.
  • Work with developers to enhance application performance and reliability.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
  • Strong expertise in Azure cloud services (VMs, App Services, Firewalls, VNETs, Load Balancers, AKS, etc.).
  • Experience implementing and maintaining PCI DSS and SOC 2 compliance in environments.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go).
  • Experience with security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, endpoint security).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools
  • Incident management and on-call rotation experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with SOC 2 audits, compliance reporting, and evidence gathering.
  • Prior experience working in fintech, payments, or regulated industries.
  • Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or PCI ISA) or cloud certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation).

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
