Description
Play a key role in ensuring system reliability at one of the world’s largest financial institutions. As a Site Reliability Engineer II within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Technology on the APAC Payments Production Management team based in Sydney, you will help ensure the operational stability, availability, and performance of production payment flows. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams and use automation and observability to reduce toil, improve reliability, and deliver a seamless user experience.   Job responsibilities * Contribute to end‑to‑end application and infrastructure service delivery supporting critical payments services. * Support day‑to‑day maintenance and change activities to ensure stability and availability. * Monitor production environments, investigate anomalies, and restore service using standard observability tools. * Participate in incident triage, recovery, root‑cause analysis, and post‑incident reviews; document and improve runbooks. * Identify manual toil and implement small‑to‑medium automation to improve reliability and response times. * Help define and improve SLI/SLO dashboards, alerting, and telemetry to drive data‑informed operations. * Participate in a rostered, as‑needed on‑call rotation to restore critical production services during high‑severity incidents.   Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent * 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining production or customer‑facing systems. * Familiarity with SRE principles and practices (SLI/SLOs, error budgets, incident lifecycle, post‑incident review). * Experience with at least one general‑purpose programming language or scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation. * Working knowledge of observability concepts and tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk). * Foundational understanding of Linux, networking fundamentals, and CI/CD and version control (e.g., Git). * Ability to prioritize, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and collaborate in a large team environment. * Eagerness to learn new systems and technologies and apply best practices to day‑to‑day operations. * Primary support during business hours; after‑hours on‑call coverage on an as‑needed, rostered basis for critical incidents.   Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills * General knowledge of the financial services industry. * Exposure to Australia’s payments systems (NPP, BECS, RBA RITS RTGS) and similar APAC schemes. * ISO 20022 familiarity and understanding of scheme SLAs/cutoffs. * Exposure to 24x7 production environments and the incident management lifecycle is a plus.
