The Role As a Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll help scale and support the core infrastructure that powers Verto’s population health platform. You’ll work across cloud systems, automation, and tooling to ensure our services remain reliable, secure, and resilient as we continue to grow. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building and maintaining cloud platforms, solving complex reliability challenges, and seeing their work directly improve the healthcare experience for patients, clinicians, and health teams across North America. What You’ll Do Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure across a complex production environment with a focus on security, availability, and long-term maintainability Seek out, propose, and execute on projects that improve system reliability and reduce operational toil Participate in design and architecture discussions, providing guidance to ensure features are built with reliability in mind Build end-to-end tooling and automations that enhance observability or resolve issues automatically Support cloud security best practices by automating scanning, reporting, and alerting Optimize cloud usage, reduce waste, and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, providing Tier 3 support and ensuring clear communication with downstream stakeholders Participate in on-call rotations as required What You Bring College certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Ability to manage and maintain databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Clickhouse 2 plus years of experience in development or cloud systems engineering 2 plus years of experience with full stack development frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Python Flask, Angular JS) Hands-on experience with: Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) Kubernetes or Docker Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) Scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash) Monitoring stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, PromQL) Linux environments (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Debian) Networking fundamentals (VPNs, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls) CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Jenkins, GitLab, Azure Pipelines) Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across engineering and operations teams Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to continuously learn Nice-to-Haves Understanding of security best practices or frameworks such as ISO27001, COBIT, or HITRUST Previous experience working in healthcare or health tech Why Verto Work that directly impacts healthcare systems across North America Continuous learning environment with mentorship and $2,000 annual learning budget Comprehensive health & dental benefits, 3 weeks vacation, 5 personal days, and unlimited sick days Remote-first flexibility with co-working access in downtown Toronto At Verto Health, we’re not just writing code—we’re reimagining how healthcare connects.
