Description

Monument Construction LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Commercial General Contractor.
The candidate will serve as the on-site authority for all matters related to health and safety on federal construction projects in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA 29 CFR 1926, and project-specific requirements. The SSHO will be responsible for leading the site safety program, ensuring compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture across all phases of construction.
The SSHO will implement and manage the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), oversee Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and conduct daily site safety inspections, safety meetings, and toolbox talks. They will ensure all personnel receive proper safety orientation, maintain thorough documentation, and serve as the primary liaison with government safety officials. The SSHO will also be empowered to stop work to address unsafe conditions, enforce corrective actions, and investigate incidents, ensuring timely reporting and mitigation.
This role is critical to maintaining compliance with all federal safety requirements while promoting continuous improvement in safety performance across the project site.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Follow and adhere to all corporate safety policies and procedures and OSHA 1910 & 1926 Safety Standards.
  • Must have OSHA 10 and willing to obtain OSHA 30 Certification immediately.
  • Accurately Interprets Project Plans, Specifications, Amendment’s, Shop Drawings & Sketches.
  • Strong project coordination skills with an eye for details and take pride in your work.
  • Recognize and control the hazards involved with construction projects.
  • Preferred 5 years of SSHO experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Have good communication skills, clean-cut in appearance, drug & alcohol free and without a criminal record.
  • Ability to comprehend and efficiently carry out work instructions.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Must work well as part of the team, be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • Willing to perform tasks outside of immediate job description as required.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Extension of the work shift may be required.
  • Work shifts will include weekdays, nights and weekends based on selected project needs.
  • Willingness to travel for duration of project when required.
  • Overtime above the standard 40 hours may be required for this position with short notice.
  • You need to have a sense of urgency to be able to meet deadlines and a willingness to learn.
  • Able to lift 60-80 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Ability to learn quickly and conduct routine tasks with limited supervision.
  • Represent yourself and our company in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for scheduling subcontractors, quality control, site safety, compliance, cost control, communication with Owner, Architects, and consultants.
  • Computer skills including Procore, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
