Job Details Job Location: Washington D.C., DC Salary Range: $110000.00 - $120000.00 Salary Description NIKA is hiring for a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) who will be responsible for the performance and safety support tasks for a Base Operating Services (BOS) contract for NAVFAC Southeast! Job Duties and Responsibilities Primary duty and responsibility is to prepare and enforce the Contractor’s safety program on this contract. The Level 2 SSHO shall ensure the requirements of EM 385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.Must provide a safety oversight team that includes a minimum of one Competent Person at each project site to function as the SSHO. This individual should always be on-site when work is being performed to implement and administrator the Contractor’s safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. This individual must always be on-site during the Government’s regular working hours. Schedules and directs, per plans and specs, the work of all company subcontractors. Maintains positive relationships with field crews, contractors, suppliers, and owners. Enforces and promotes safe work practices for all personnel onsite, per company safety policy. Maintain a clean and organized job site, including the construction office. Required Qualifications: The Level 2 SSHO shall have fulfilled the pre-requisite qualification, training, continuous learning, and experiences describe in the EM 385-1-1 before being hired as the Level 2 SSHO under this contract. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO). Minimum of 5 years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past OR 3 years of experience if this individual possesses a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree. Must have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health related coursework every four years. The SSHO should have fulfilled the following pre-requisite training and experiences. Working experience with NFPA, EPA, TJC, OSHA codes and standards. Can demonstrate good communication and organizational skills that are required for government design/build projects and for daily interaction with government construction management staff.
