REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of high school (required); post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety considered an asset
  • Experience in accounting, engineering, marketing, or administrative tasks is an asset
  • Valid safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid/CPR)
  • Knowledge of Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act and construction site regulations
  • Strong communication and reporting skills (Chinese required)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in construction safety preferred (training available)
  • Experience in accounting, engineering, marketing, or administrative tasks is an asset
  • Proficient in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail for document control, filing, and report preparation

Responsibilities
  • Monitor day-to-day site safety conditions and ensure compliance with Nova Scotia OHS regulations
  • Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and incident/near-miss documentation
  • Support implementation of the company’s Health & Safety Policy
  • Provide safety orientation and training to workers and subcontractors
  • Assist supervisors with corrective actions and accident investigations
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and fall protection equipment on site
  • Communicate with management, clients, and regulatory agencies regarding safety issues
  • Prepare and manage safety-related paperwork, including forms, reports, and documentation
