Salary Range: $80,000-$125,000
JOB TITLE: Site Safety & Health Officer
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
SUMMARY: The SSHO II is a mid-level safety professional with direct oversight responsibility for safety on federal construction projects. This role ensures the project’s safety program is fully implemented, compliant with NAVFAC, USAF, USACE EM 385 1 1, and OSHA regulations, and that all workers and subcontractors adhere to safety protocols. The SSHO II will report to a Field Operations Manager, SSHO III, or Program Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in safety or construction management preferred.
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience, including at least 3 years on federal projects.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required).
  • EM 385 1 1 training within the last 5 years (required).
  • First Aid/CPR/AED (required).
  • HAZWOPER Certification (required)
  • Confined Space Training Certification (required)
  • 16 Hour Fall Protection Training Certification (required)
  • Confined Space Training Certification (required)
  • Strong leadership, investigation, and compliance enforcement skills.
Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of the Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
  • Conduct and document daily safety inspections and corrective actions.
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and daily pre-task safety briefings.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  • Review and approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and ensure they are followed.
  • Provide direct oversight of subcontractor safety performance.
  • Maintain safety logs, training records, and other required documentation in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control and Project Management to ensure safe work planning.
  • Serve as the primary safety authority in the absence of SSHO III or Corporate Safety Manager.
  • Participates and develops the training of employees on safety policies, procedures, regulations,
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
  • Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Indirectly supervises employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include addressing complaints and resolving problems.
