Description
Control Risks is looking to appoint an experienced Security Manager to take responsibility for security at a key regional distribution centre in North West Melbourne for our client, a high-profile international manufacturer and retailer of consumer products. This role will suit a security professional in the early-to-mid stages of their management career, and will offer significant opportunity to take holistic responsibility for asset protection at a core site location as well as along the supply chain of products from the factory to in-country. Key Responsibilities: Leadership: Oversees contracted guard staff or internal teams to ensure consistent performance. Risk Assessment: Identifies vulnerabilities in access control, inventory flow, or staff behavior Incident Investigation: Gathers and documents information to support internal or legal action for incidents of theft. Policy Enforcement: Ensures site personnel follow all safety and security protocols. Data Literacy: Uses surveillance and reporting tools to identify patterns and trends Overall Building protection: Monitor gate and dock security; audit outbound loads; coordinate with logistics on compliance. Process Oriented: Develop and refine asset protection policies and procedures for the distribution centre. Investigations & Compliance: Conduct and Support Investigations: Lead or assist in investigations related to internal theft, dishonesty, organized retail crime, and policy violations. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of investigative findings, evidence, and outcomes to support legal, HR, and operational follow-up. Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., HR, Legal, Store Operations) and external partners (e.g., law enforcement, retail crime networks) to resolve cases and mitigate future risks. Monitor CCTV and Alarm Systems: Continuously observe surveillance feeds and respond promptly to alarms to detect and deter unauthorized activity. Control Access Points: Ensure secure entry and exit by verifying credentials and maintaining logs of personnel and visitor movements. Verify Shipments: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments to prevent loss, ensure accuracy, and maintain inventory integrity. Conduct Safety Audits: Perform regular inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and recommend corrective actions. Investigate Incidents: Respond to and investigate theft, property damage, and other security breaches, documenting findings and supporting resolution efforts. Protect Assets, People, and Property: Maintain a visible security presence to deter threats and promote a safe environment for employees and visitors. Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field is desired. Or equivalent work experience in security, loss prevention, or risk management will be considered in lieu of formal education Relevant experience working in supply chain/distribution centers. Relevant certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) desirable. Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Expertise in identifying vulnerabilities and implementing effective loss prevention and safety strategies. Investigative Skills: Capability to conduct thorough investigations into theft, safety incidents, and policy violations. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with operations, HR, legal, and law enforcement. Knowledge of Security Technologies: Familiarity with surveillance, access control, alarm systems, and related security infrastructure.
