POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Site Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day operations of restoration construction sites, managing workflow, supervising trades, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role involves detailed planning, direct supervision of on-site activities, coordinating with the Project Manager and subcontractors, and monitoring project progress to ensure timely, quality-driven completion. The Site Superintendent plays a key role in maintaining high standards for workplace safety and quality across all projects.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Appropriate certifications and training records.
  • 5 years experience as a Building Restoration Site Superintendent supervising multiple trades including:
    o Concrete restoration and Protection
    o Brick/Masonry Restoration
    o Swing-stage and Scaffolding
    o Civil Works and Landscaping (hard and soft)
    o Mechanical and Electrical

o Building Envelope

  • Possession of a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario, class “G” driver’s license
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Effective supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities to ensure consistent completion of projects on-time, on budget and to the clients’ satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated leadership, field management and problem-solving skills support your collaborative approach to delivering results and developing team members.
  • You have demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration.
  • Proficient in reading Issued For Construction drawings in all divisions.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and enforce Brook Restoration’s safety program, monitoring the safety performance of field staff and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships to foster positive morale among field staff and subcontractors. Provide ongoing supervision, feedback, training, and coaching; conduct timely performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the project schedule, coordinating closely with the Project Manager on scheduling, resource allocation, and material management.
  • Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions, and change notices, ensuring scopes, terms, and conditions are properly executed.
  • Identify and address design deficiencies, scheduling interruptions, and other project issues, working collaboratively with the Project Manager to resolve them efficiently.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance in terms of safety, quality of workmanship, and adherence to project scope. Ensure building materials meet quality standards.
  • Ensure sufficient manpower is provided to meet safety, schedule, and quality objectives, overseeing laborers and tradespeople as needed.
  • Maintain accurate daily paperwork, including field reports, safety inspections, and schedule updates. Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports on project status, safety compliance, and any issues encountered.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, maintaining clear communication on project status and expectations.
  • Participate in regular project meetings with the Project Manager to align on goals, expectations, and updates, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement.

The Site Superintendent is responsible for fulfilling all mandatory health and safety competencies, which include:

  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Training: Promote an inclusive work environment.
  • First Aid & CPR / AED: Capable of providing initial emergency response.
  • Ministry of Labour (MOL) Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness in 5 Steps: Comply with supervisor safety responsibilities.
  • Supervisor Competency: Demonstrate expertise in leading a team with a focus on safety.
  • Violence and Harassment in the Workplace: Foster a respectful and safe workplace.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS): Ensure safe handling and management of hazardous materials.
