CANTIRO IS EXPANDING OPERATIONS AND IS LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED SITE SUPERINTENDENT WITH EXPERIENCE IN RESIDENTIAL AND/OR MULTI-FAMILY CONSTRUCTION.

Working under the supervision of the Construction Manager, the Superintendent directs subcontractors and other construction personnel to complete our projects on time, on budget, and without any deficiencies. The Superintendent will be responsible but not limited to the following:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • First Aid Qualified
  • CSTS certificate
  • Minimum 5 years of Residential construction and site management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing wood-framed multi-family projects.
  • Industry-related education is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of Alberta Building Code.
  • Journeyman ticket in an applicable trade is preferred.
  • Must work well in an environment with a sense of urgency, an ability to delegate and make judgment calls while meeting standards of quality and service.
  • Strong ability to multitask, be proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • Promotes and champions Health & Safety at all times.
    We welcome applicants with single family and/or multi-family experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Self-motivated and ability to problem-solve
  • Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). MS Project experience is an asset

Responsibilities

Site Management & Safety

  • Work with the project team, clients, trade contractors, and consultants to create a successful project.
  • Provide leadership to Site Assistants that demonstrates and results in a safe work culture and is responsible for the overall safety of their project.
  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced.
  • Complete daily Project Hazard Assessment and send to the Safety Officer.
  • Oversee the execution of the work, including quality and production, by ensuring that the contractors’ work is completed to project specifications and schedule.
  • Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule.
  • Conduct morning walk-throughs of all properties in their entirety, noting any issues that need to be addressed.
  • Schedule all necessary trade work resulting from inspections.
  • Review project drawings and specifications independently and with trade contractors to proactively find conflicts and recommend resolutions to the project team and consultants.
  • Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate these to the appropriate persons.
  • Identify, verify, and report any scheduling conflicts to the appropriate persons.
  • Review inspection reports and manage deficiency resolutions.
  • Conduct client walk-throughs to ensure plan specifications and expectations at both rough-in and cabinet stage are met.
  • Raise and discuss relevant issues and proposed solutions at job site meetings.
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of the company’s equipment on the job site.
  • Review project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling conflicts, possible cost-saving measures, and potential construction problems.
  • Control and monitor labor, material, and rental expenses.
  • Ensure “as built” drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period.
  • Coordinate all required municipal and utility inspections.
  • Support and participate in monthly safety reports.
  • Manage a minimum of one development site and potentially provide support on additional projects based on demand and capacity.
  • Coordinate with Sales Team and Operations Manager to finalize home plans and options.
  • Professionally communicate with team members and clients.
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control.
  • Update and submit weekly management reports.
  • Attend weekly construction meetings at head office.
  • Maintain a portfolio of 15-25 homes at any given time.
