JOB DESCRIPTION

The After-School Site Supervisor ensures a safe, engaging environment for children, overseeing daily operations, supporting staff, and implementing activities that promote social, emotional, and academic growth while upholding YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have two years direct experience working with children under 13 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Foundations in Health and Safety and Mandated Reporter trainings completed before start date.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate program activities according to established standards.
  • Develop positive, authentic relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Meet all OCFS hiring requirements, including but not limited to: cleared background checks (fingerprints, SEL, SCR), TB and physical form, 3 references, and criminal history statement.
  • Complete a minimum of 30 hours of New York -State-required childcare training every two years (15 hours within the first 6 months).
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with children and maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff members.
  • Exhibit punctuality, reliability, and flexibility in all duties.
  • Conduct and record monthly fire drills, health & safety checks, and bi-yearly shelter-in-place drills.
  • Record all CACFP snack requirements and submit to the Hornell office by set deadlines.
  • Submit all snack orders to the Director by established deadlines.
  • Ensure all payments and attendance records are submitted to the Hornell office every Friday.
  • Create and manage monthly/weekly staff schedules to ensure proper staff-to-child ratios.
  • Supervise children, staff, and all activities to maintain engagement and safety.
  • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
  • Keep the program site and equipment clean (sanitized weekly) and organized.
  • Maintain required program records in compliance with OCFS regulations.
  • Attend and actively participate in required program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
  • Attend monthly planning meetings with the Supervisor.
  • Abide by all OCFS licensing regulations.
  • Report any suspected cases of child abuse or mistreatment to the Mandated Reporter and -Director.
  • Assist in training new staff at your location.
  • Support staff in developing knowledge and strengths.
  • Delegate daily program planning responsibilities.
  • Serve as the primary point of communication between children, parents, and staff regarding matters and concerns.
  • Hold weekly staff meetings.
  • All other duties assigned by the Childcare Director.
