About the job National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Site Supervisor to join our team in Operations. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering schemes across the Southeast region, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. Reporting directly to the Construction Assurance Manager, you will carry out construction surveillance and assurance inspections to verify the quality of works, ensuring all activities comply with specifications, standards, and approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Please note that you may be required to work predominantly unsociable hours, including nights and weekends, for which overtime and/or an out‑of‑hours allowance will be paid. This role will be all over the South East Area 3 network, and you will be based from our Basingstoke office. Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment. Assuring the completion of planned works to agreed standards and escalating any concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager (CAM), in line with agreed governance agreements. Ensuring that construction works comply with CDM Regulations, HSE legislation, environmental legislation, and Chapter 8 requirements, ensuring that Principal Contractor (PC) duties are properly discharged by the relevant parties. Providing CAMs with timely feedback on construction progress, risks, early warnings, design issues, and any on‑site challenges that need escalating. Acting as the key liaison between National Highways and supply chain partners, coordinating delivery programmes and supporting buildability reviews. Monitoring works against approved Inspection and Test Plans, making sure hold points, witness points, and quality checks are completed and properly recorded. Ensuring contractors provide accurate and complete quality documentation, including test results, material certificates, and as‑built records, and raising any non‑conformances promptly. Ensuring issues are identified early, challenged appropriately, and resolved collaboratively with contractors and internal teams. Representing the interests of National Highways on construction/maintenance sites, assuring supplier performance and the completion of planned works to agreed standards, and escalating any concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager or Construction Manager, in line with the agreed governance agreement. About you Proven highway/structures and maintenance/construction experience; experience of working on high‑speed trunk road/motorway networks is essential. Good understanding of the DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8, and CDM Regulations. CSCS card holder; SSSTS or SMSTS certificate is essential. Ability to execute tasks independently yet work collaboratively within a team and respond to management guidance and support. Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and maintain effective working relationships on site.
