SUMMARY:

The WTP Site Supervisor will be expected to pro-actively drive operational excellence by operating and improving the reliability and efficiency of the water treatment plant (WTP) assets at DRAX.
Daily duties will include ensuring the WTP asset equipment continually operates at their optimum level, whilst maintaining technician communications, establishing operational reviews and ensuring the timely completion of PM tasks and the repair of failed equipment. The WTP Site Supervisor will also be expected to provide support to the Operations Manager by taking responsibility for timely provision of information, organisation and reporting to DRAX.
The WTP Site Supervisor will be expected to supply and review RAMS, accept DRAX permits, deliver daily/weekly operational reports and attend operational and safety meetings on site.
The WTP Site Supervisor will also use the DRAX MAXIMO system for daily maintenance planning.
Critical to the success of this role, will be the day-to-day leadership, management and continued development of a cohesive WTP team, resulting in a proactive attitude and approach to improving the plant operating condition, and providing training materials and technical documentation.
An integral part of the plant improvement plan will be the implementation of operational excellence programmes and meaningful KPI’s.
The WTP Site Supervisor will carry out a weekly inventory of operational consumables (e.g. chemicals, filters etc.) and request re-order as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Operational leadership experience within an industrial setting.
  • A detailed working knowledge of water treatment.
  • Experience of leading all aspects of a team of operational technicians.
  • Experience of planning and leading a maintenance team.
  • Experience of directing teams and organising sub-contractors.
  • Leadership and other practical hands-on delivery.
  • Self-management on critical process plant.
  • Working to strict HSE systems with high level of personal accountability.
  • Operational problem solving and diagnostics (using technical literature).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s.
  • Training in Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety systems.
  • Time served apprentice (Desirable).
  • HNC/HND (minimum) in an engineering/process discipline (Desirable).
  • Background or qualification in (any of): Water treatment/ION Exchange / Chemistry / Chemical engineering / Contract Management (Desirable).

Responsibilities
  • Management of health safety and environmental standards in a power station environmental on a complex multi customer project.
  • Visible leadership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI.
  • Preparation of financial documentation such as purchase orders for subsequent approval by the Operations or Territory Manager. Control of any subsequent orders to ensure that equipment arrives on time and within budget.
  • Build recognition with DRAX for Operational Excellence and efficiency.
  • Develop strong relationships with key Customer personnel.
  • Recognise improvements / gaps in the operation of the WTP plant and where authority allows, implement improvements.
  • Seek to develop Optimisation Projects according to corporate model.
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager and liaise directly with maintenance to devise realistic and timely planning for completion of key operational activities – including statutory requirements.
  • Development and Management of operational procedures and basic competency training for Operations Technicians.
  • Manage day to day issues for operators, including welfare, conduct, behaviour training and development.
  • Support the development of the ‘NSI’ culture of ownership, involvement and accountability for operational excellence.
