This Site Supervisor will report to the Lead Operational Engineer and will work within UKPN Services based in our Gatwick Airport office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £51,245 and a bonus of 3%.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Work with the Lead Operational Engineer to ensure that all programmes of work are delivered to time and budget following contractual commitments to time, cost and quality.
Manage resources for individual projects identifying any changes needed (people and equipment).
Follow Client and UK Power Networks Services Operations and Procedures.
Ensure compliance with CDM and UK Power Networks Services Health and Safety policies.
Ensure the compliance with the Distribution Safety Rules during all activities.
Develop site specific H, S & E procedures.
Put operatives to work making sure they understand the tasks and use a safe system of work. Ensure projects team staff attend Toolbox talks and receive relevant site inductions.
Put staff to Work under a Safe System of Work, provide daily guidance of works on site, check Method Statements and Daily Point of Work Assessments are in place.
Daily planning, coordination, and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources for both directly employed staff and contractors. Ensure resource scheduling is up to date and that work is available to maximise the utilisation of resources. Also, improve the productivity of field staff and term contractors to ensure unit costs are improved.
Management and supervision of the Airport Craft Team filling and managing their works schedules with 3 monthly look ahead, perform regular site behavioural exchanges, boots on the ground site visits and see it sort it records.
Collaborate with engineers’/Manager to ensure prompt delivery of work packages and forward planning of resources. Ensure that all hours reported through time sheets are accurate and representative of the job.
Management of field staff working hours including overtime control and the administration of company incentive schemes following relevant policies.
You will establish a process of continuous improvement through IPR reviews, the development of staff and the utilisation of new technology. You also need to ensure that staff comply with procedures, work to a high quality, and the removal of barriers to efficient delivery of work.

Ensure competency levels maintained for both the team and self. Organise training to address any shortfall.
Oversee all staff working on site and training of Apprentices.
Undertake site visits to survey planned works and collaborate with Main Contractors.
Prepare & submit of Method Statements, Risk Assessments and COSHH Data Sheets for all works.
Read & interpret utility drawings.
Understand operational and 1:500 diagrams.
LV Authorised Person with further possible progression to HV and SAP.
Use IT equipment including SAP ‘Toughpads’, TDR, LV Fault sniffer and FFE equipment.
Undertake additional activities determined by the job level and competency.
Work unsocial hours to align with project programmes, responding to system faults and completion of maintenance activities.

Nature and Scope
You will be subject to pre-appointment drug screening following the UK Power Networks policy on “Alcohol and Drugs”.
You will work as part of a team of technicians, jointers and fitters that report to the Lead Operational Engineer and have the support of experienced Operational Engineers.
You will be predominantly based in the UK Power Networks Services area with work being undertaken on customer owned sites on a contractual basis. You will also travel and work anywhere within the UK on customer owned sites.
Skill and Educational Requirements
The following skills and attributes are important to this role:
Experience with electrical distribution and be familiar with organisational procedures and ensure their implementation at local level.
Experience of the Business from an operational and technical perspective.
Understand the range and type of both professional and trade skills that are necessary in delivering field work.
,Have a technical background; typically, from a Fitter/HV Jointer/ Linesperson background.
You will either hold an Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) certificate in managing health and safety or be willing to obtain this IOSH certificate within a timescale agreed with your manager.
An understanding of the range and type of both professional and trade skills that are necessary in delivering field work is required.
Evidence of training, such as a CIS card, of a supervisor and operative.
UKPN Substation entry, LV and HV competencies desirable.
Flexibility and able to work in a team environment.
Must have a clean driving licence and be able to complete and pass an Airside driving test.
Obtain Client Infrastructure Security Passes (providing a traceable work history and criminal records check).
Fit and willing to be trained to work in confined spaces.
Safety focus required.
Must be customer-focused .
Demonstrate a clear understanding of which elements of the project are important to its success.
Be able to work on their own or as part of a team.
Any training required will be provided to you.
Health & Safety Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

You will manage all aspects of maintenance and project delivery, with regard to safety, time, cost and quality, such that the airports programme of work which is satisfactorily delivered to our client’s requirements. We ask that you have experience with cost and change management for changes in site work. You must understand the need to balance daily project delivery, event / failure management and network planned maintenance. We ask that you deliver all of these without compromise.
You will develop strong working relationship with the client.
You will incorporate construction, with assistance to operation and maintenance and this is a multi-site role. You will work on new and existing systems to ensure continuity of supply to customers during new systems installation or existing systems modernisation and some maintenance activities.
You will ensure safety management throughout the team in all areas of your position’s responsibility following the UK Power Networks Services Stay Safe directive.
