Description Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Sports and Recreation Coordinator, the skate center staff, floor guards, and referees must be able to enforce rules and assist skaters in a friendly and positive manner during skate center activities while keeping the area clean and safe. Staff members will establish and maintain supportive relationships with members and guests and provide a quality experience that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervises and interacts with skaters while enforcing rules safely and positively. Maintain accurate YMCA system records for all skaters, ensuring current waivers and up-to-date emergency contact information are on file at all times. Organizes age-appropriate and ongoing activities. Distributes and maintains rental skates and performs replacement/repair. Responsible for alerting supervisors of any unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions. Assist set-up and take down for special events. Develops positive relationships with skate center participants. Operate the cash register; accept payments and make accurate change. Market upcoming skate center events Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Attends staff meetings and training as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum High School Diploma/GED or currently pursuing. Instructors, Floor Guards, and Referees must be confident in their skating abilities. Strong customer service skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with diverse employees, volunteers, and participants. Strong leadership skills. Must have experience in cash handling, including knowledge of essential addition and subtraction. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making. Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA membership and programs. First Aid, CPR, and blood-borne pathogens certifications or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift and carry items appropriate to the position. Must be able to perform duties while standing and actively moving for extended periods on varying surfaces. Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency. Work will be performed indoors. Must be able to coordinate various large and small tasks simultaneously and positively handle tension and stress.
Responsibilities
