JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a skilled Skid Steer Operator with proven heavy equipment experience to join our construction and landscaping team. This role focuses primarily on operating skid steer loaders for a variety of tasks including grading, digging, concrete work using a skid steer bucket, and topsoil placement. Experience with other machinery such as backhoes, loaders, or excavators is considered a strong asset. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-oriented, and brings a strong mechanical understanding to support diverse on-site operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Skid Steer Operator license is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating skid steers; additional experience with other heavy equipment (e.g., backhoes, loaders) is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of equipment safety, mechanical function, and job site best practices.
  • Experience in placing concrete and handling topsoil with a skid steer is preferred.
  • Familiarity with landscaping and construction environments.
  • Experience working near underground services is preferred.
  • Certifications such as Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, CSTS/CSO, Standard First Aid with CPR, and H2S Alive are considered assets.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and work in a variety of outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Operate skid steer loaders to complete tasks such as grading, digging, concrete handling with a skid steer bucket, and topsoil dropping/placement.
  • Support site work on both construction and landscaping projects, including site prep and finishing.
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite, including proper storage of tools and equipment.
  • Assist with other heavy equipment tasks when necessary (e.g., backhoe or loader operation).
  • Work safely around live underground utilities such as water and electrical lines.
  • Follow all Alberta OH&S regulations and company safety policies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support efficient workflows.
