Description

The Skid Steer Operator’s main purpose is to efficiently operate various models of skid steer loaders to maintain an acceptable level of workmanship and productivity, as well as to promote and participate in the Goal Zero initiative.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of base work on various types of jobs including parking lots, residential subdivisions, collector & arterial roadways and highways.
  • Knowledge/ experience with setup, operation and maintenance of skid steer.
  • Willing to learn and take direction.
  • Able to perform physical and intense manual labour for extended periods of time.
  • Able to communicate well with co-workers.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license - Class 5.
  • Able to work under pressure in some situations.
  • Able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
  • Able and willing to work overtime as required.
  • Must be reliable.
  • Must exhibit a strong work ethic.
  • Must have strong regard for ethics.
  • Ability to meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
  • Must maintain active membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 955.

EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION:

  • 2 to 3 years of skid steer operation experience.

Responsibilities
  • Operate skid steer safely to assist productivity and workmanship within LRT division.
  • Be able to finish grade the area you are working on.
  • Lifting, loading, and unloading materials using the forks, bucket.
  • Participate in Goal Zero Initiative, including adhering to the Defined Activities as defined for their position.
  • Discuss and plan daily project, procedures & goals with fellow personnel to maximize productivity and workmanship.
  • Perform groundwork as required.
