JOB SUMMARY

The Skid Steer Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a skid steer during project construction.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Must have a valid Class 5 (or better) driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • Own transportation.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 Years of Skid Steer experience required.
  • Experience in concrete break out required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labour under adverse weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with the materials, tools and machinery used.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
  • Ability to work cooperatively independently and with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Teamwork
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills

Working Conditions

  • Overtime as required.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
  • Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, and strenuous movements.
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
  • Required to perform tasks that involve bending and strenuous movements.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
  • Must comply with all company policies.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect skid steer loader and equipment prior to use to ensure it is in good repair.
  • Operate CAT skid steer loader and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Perform maintenance on skid steer loader and equipment as required and keep detailed logs of all maintenance.
  • Clean and lubricate skid steer machinery and equipment.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards as set forth by the company.
  • Determine safe lifting capacities.
  • Excavate, lift, load and/or move various materials.
  • Provide assistance to other crew members as required.
  • Any other related work duties as assigned.
