A number of outstanding opportunities have arisen for 21 contract positions between our Rotatives Derby Compressor Discs and Drums Facility (DCDD) and Shafts business. We are looking for a number of Skilled CNC Machinists which will be responsible for the manufacture of aerospace components to join on a 12-month contract. Please note this role is going to be on a rotating shift pattern (mornings, afternoon and nights).
Your role as a Skilled Machinist will involve working on our various CNC machining platforms producing Discs, Drums and any other commodities we support. As a General Machinist, you will be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements. You will also work with cross functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within our manufacturing environment.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship* and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Siemens control system experience is preferred.
  • Experience in 3 and 5-axis grinding, milling and turning.
  • Previous experience with aerospace components would be an advantage.
  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection.
Responsibilities
  • Work to Rolls-Royce’s Technical Instructions and program manuals to deliver consistent, high-quality machining across a variety of different components and product families.
  • Operate a variety of Inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometres, plug gauges.
  • Interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications.
  • Assessment of whether the quality of components produced within the facility meets the required standards.
