Description

Fort Vale Engineering Ltd, based in Simonstone are the World Leader in the design and manufacture of valves and fittings for the transportation of bulk liquids in the tank container, road tanker and rail industries. We are currently looking for a Skilled CNC Turner to join the team in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

The Role: Skilled CNC Turner

  • Permanent and full time (38 hours per week)
  • Predominantly working on the Night Shift (Mon – Thurs 10 p.m. – 07:30 a.m.)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and engineering quality plans
  • Ability to use variety of measuring equipment
  • Able to make decisions based on experience, have confidence to act and make changes within given boundaries
  • Good personal organisation
  • Time management skills
  • Communication and Listening skills
  • Basic Fanuc programming knowledge of G and M codes

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience of working with stainless steels and machine programming using Fanuc/Okuma/Mazak CNC controls
  • Prior knowledge and experience of machining stainless steels in a variety of forms including billet, castings and pressings would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of setting CNC machines including datums, tool offsets and safe proving out methods
  • Knowledge surrounding geometry, cutting tools, inserts, fixtures and other accessories
  • Experience of Mori-Seiki, Nakamura and Okuma would be desirable

QUALIFICATION

  • Time served engineer (or have equivalent qualification)

Responsibilities

MAIN TASKS

  • Set up tools and load materials onto CNC Machine
  • Measure components produced on machines and use inspection equipment
  • Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings
  • Use computer equipment for data purposes
  • Able to manually handle weights up to 25kg
