Arkay Contracting is looking for skilled new construction labourers with a variety of tickets and qualifications to potentially join our team for current and future projects.
Primary Duty:
To complete the tasks outlined by the supervisor to allow construction to move forward on the site.
Health & Entry Requirements:
Capable of lifting 13.61 kg (30 lbs.) or more repeatedly
Possess all necessary PPE (hard hat, high visibility vest, steel toe work boots, gloves, impact resistant eyewear, hearing protection)
English skills sufficient to read and understand safety meetings, verbal instructions, warning labels/signs, etc.
Able to perform manual labour for several hours at a time
Minimum 2 years construction experience in a skilled labour role.
Experience using a variety of power tools
Carpentry experience an asset. Small forms, framing, dowel bar replacement
Possess a valid SIN #
General Requirements:
Follow work site and WorkSafeBC safety rules
Follow instructions from Foreman and Superintendents
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Ask questions when unsure
General Duties:
Skilled Labourers perform a variety of tasks involving physical labour. You MUST BE proficient and experienced in the following tasks/areas:
- Setting up, removing and maintaining water pumps, hoses
- Using a variety of hand and power tools
- Stripping and disassembly of concrete forms
- Setting up and taking down of ladders, planks, scaffolding, staging and temporary structures
- Setting up, building and removal of temporary safety barriers and hand railings
- Knowledge in measuring and snapping lines and assisting in layout
- Loading, unloading or moving building materials to the appropriate locations
- Compacting and leveling earth to grade, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers or rakes
- Keeping the job site clean and organized - shoveling, sweeping and vacuuming
- Assisting other workers as required
