Description

As a highly skilled and experienced Trades Assistant with Nation Quality Construction, you will play a crucial role in supporting our residential house building team with day-to-day tasks and apply a varied range of construction skills along the way. You will assist in maintaining a safe and organized work site, help with general construction work with minor supervision from a tradesperson. You should be able to contribute to the successful completion of construction projects with existing knowledge on how to build a house from foundations to final hand-over.
We are a small licensed building company in Adelaide and need someone who is keen to work smart but is strong enough and intuitive enough to actually help with the construction work.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in construction or a similar labor-intensive role is mandatory.
  • You need to be smart and able to follow instructions and contribute as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects such as barrows of concrete and steel beams.
  • Knowledge and experince with construction tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency with the safe operation of different types of tools and machines
  • Mathematical skills to measure, cut, shape, and calculate materials and costs
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, flexible and hardworking attitude.
  • A valid Construction Induction card (White Card).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow safety guidelines.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Previous experience in residential construction.
  • Qualifications or Tickets used in construction.
  • Previous experience using hand, power tools and machines (excavator, bobcat, scissors, etc.)
  • First Aid Certification (optional).
  • Drivers License.
Responsibilities
  • Read plans and sketches to grasp the project design and specifications
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials to fit specified dimensions and quality standards
  • Carry out (under supervision if necessary) concreting, bricklaying, minor carpentry, tiling, painting, landscaping, fencing and a range of various tasks.
  • Dig, shovel, hammer, cut, lift and place, mix, use power tools and carry out construction tasks as required.
  • Load, unload and help place materials such as bricks, timber, cement, concrete and other construction supplies.
  • Perform demolition and a construction tasks.
  • Help with site maintenance tasks including cleaning and organizing tools.
  • Work in compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a safe work site.
