$29.00 USD Hourly

Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Salary Compensation: $21.20- $29.00 per hour; DOE
The Rob and Melani Walton Sustainability Solutions Service (RMWSSS) at Arizona State University is seeking a motivated and dependable Operations Coordinator to execute the day-to-day operations of the Circular Plastics Microfactory. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this role will be responsible for working on the production floor, sorting and shredding plastic waste, producing plastic pellets, and assisting in the creation of final products. The Operations Coordinator will also complete packaging and logistics to ensure materials are ready for delivery to end markets.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work safely with machinery and in an industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with recycling or manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic understanding of inventory or production workflows.
  • Physically able to lift and move 50 lbs, and process plastic materials.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a production, warehouse, recycling, or materials handling environment.
  • May be required to possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements and safety classes for equipment such as a forklift throughout employment.
  • Experience operating machinery or tools in a manufacturing or recycling setting.
  • Interest or background in sustainability, recycling, or environmental science.
  • Experience working in a team-based, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
  • Operate sorting, shredding, and plastic pelletizing equipment on the production floor.
  • Coordinate and implement molding and fabrication of plastic products.
  • Perform and maintain quality control processes and documentation.
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and work areas according to safety standards.
  • Use power and hand tools to perform repair and maintenance work.
  • Operate forklifts, dollies and other basic loading and unloading equipment as required.
  • Drive trucks to transport materials, supplies or equipment as required.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on production scheduling and inventory tracking.
  • Package and prepare finished products for delivery or demonstration.
  • Deliver training sessions and support community and stakeholder engagement events as needed.
