Summary The Skilled Laborer performs a variety of assignments requiring knowledge of the construction field. This is a full-time non-exempt reporting to the Distribution Supervisor in Boston, MA. This position is a member of the Bargaining Unit Member of the IUOE, Local 877. The hourly rate for this position is $42.39. Responsibilities All activities covered under Unskilled Laborer such as using all hand and power tools to maintain and repair equipment. Performs duties such as concrete work, excavation or fill, and general construction work. Skilled in carpentry work as it pertains to framing and forming. Skilled in concrete work as it pertains to forming, reinforcing, and placing cast in place concrete. Experienced in safe excavation techniques, including digging, trenching, shoring, backfilling, etc. Insulates piping as required. Basic masonry skills necessary to install or repair brick work. Assist in the training of other Laborer(s). Assist others as required. All other related duties. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year of related experience. Physical Requirements Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening. Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company. Able to follow DOT regulations when required. Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) or proper safety procedures warrant use. Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 80 pounds, unassisted. Required to work in confined spaces. Required climbing ladders, and / or stairs. Required to work in all adverse conditions, both indoors and outdoors all seasons. Required to work in hot areas.
