Tool and Die Makers are paid a top hourly base rate of $53.00 per hour plus applicable shift, overtime, and holiday premiums.

As we continue our journey to establish the Oakville Assembly Complex as a Technical Centre of Excellence, we are seeking qualified applicants for opportunities within our skilled trade workforce for Tool and Die Makers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Has satisfactorily completed an apprenticeship training course in the trade concerned and has obtained a Certificate of Qualification (CofQ) 430A (if a Certificate of Apprenticeship has not been attained, applicants with 8 years of experience in the trade after receiving the Certificate of Qualifications (CofQ) (430A) will be considered)
  • Must be able to work all shifts (days, afternoons, midnights) on a rotating schedule

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Setup and operation of CNC Milling machines
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Aluminium Stamping experience
  • General knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerances (GD&T) and Forming Limit Diagrams (FLD)
  • Understanding and expertise in draw die forming, maintenance of beads, trim steels, and pierce operations
  • Experience in:
  • A fast-paced automotive heavy stamping facility
  • Working in Class ‘A’ die repair
  • Stick and TIG welding on castings and tool steel
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Troubleshooting die issues in tandem presses & transfer presses
  • Operating manual for lathes, mills, surface grinders, radial drills, and metal cutting machines
  • Home line commissioning of stamping dies or tooling, performing internal try-outs, troubleshooting issues during initial run, and making necessary adjustments to meet production specifications
    Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
