Skilled Vehicle Technician
We have a vacancy for a skilled vehicle technician to work within our workshop in Marchington, Staffordshire. Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, you will have a proven track record in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults and be able to work under minimum supervision to the highest standards within scheduled times.
As well as being fully competent in the servicing and repairing of vehicles, you will possess the technical competences in the mechanics of a vehicle with thorough knowledge of the electrical, fuel, ignition and security components and be comfortable using the latest diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults, quickly and accurately.
You will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to work alone with the interpersonal skills to deal with colleagues.

Responsibilities

· · Good time management and ability to work on own initiative
· · Liaise closely with Technical Director and Fleet Manager
· · Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify any existing or potential mechanical or bodywork issues.
· · Utilise diagnostic equipment, computer systems, and technical resources to efficiently identify and resolve vehicle problems.
· · Perform general vehicle servicing and maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tyre changes, and filter replacements.
· · Maintain an organised and clean work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly handled and stored.
· · Reduce vehicle maintenance costs and maximise fleet availability by ensuring repairs on the vehicle fleet are timely and necessary.
· · Routine vehicle inspections, including MOT preparations
· · General vehicle body repairs – wing/bonnet replacement
· · All Diagnostic and repairs
· · Attending on-road vehicle breakdowns as required
· · Complete Job cards for all work completed using computerised fleet management system
· · Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
· · Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts used.
· Key skills required
· · Experience in servicing mid-size vans – Mercedes, VW’s, Renault, Vauxhalls
· · A minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in light vehicle maintenance and repair or equivalent experience
· · Proven experience and skill as a Vehicle Technician or Car Mechanic, preferably in a garage or automotive repair facility
· Requirements
· 2 years of mechanical engineering experience
· Valid UK driving licence
