We have an excellent opportunity to join our exceptional Apprenticeships and Business Development department as a Plumbing and Gas Skills Coach.
The role of the Skills Coach is to provide support and guidance and to assess the vocational knowledge and competence of their apprentices against the national standards, ensuring the apprentice understands the technical knowledge and skills needed to undertake their job role.
This is a great opportunity to share your wealth of knowledge, experience and skills with the next generation of Plumbing and Gas engineers as they start their journey into the industry.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • Assessor Award or working towards
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Plumbing related discipline
  • Gas Safe registered

EXPERIENCE

  • Current knowledge and relevant occupational experience in the assessment area – Plumbing and Gas
  • Proven experience of accurately and timely assessing in the workplace/classroom
  • Experience of working within a customer focused environment
  • Experience of working with candidates with a wide range of abilities

Responsibilities
  • To undertake timely assessment of apprentices to the national standards and to record all assessment decisions to meet the awarding body/ professional body requirements in line with the assessment cycle
  • Manage a caseload of apprentices to include, setting SMART targets to ensure timely progress and achievement all required components of the apprenticeship
  • To undertake timely workplace observations, where appropriate and upload all related work activities and progress information into the apprentice management system in a timely manner, allowing accurate tracking of apprentice progression
  • Plan and agree OTJ requirements with employer and apprentice monitor completion and ensure met in full to meet ESFA requirements
  • Plan and complete TLA visits every 4-6 weeks as a minimum to meet ESFA requirements
  • Support and monitor all apprentices who require ALN / ALS for those identified and where required the completion of CognAssist interventions where identified
  • Plan and complete with the apprentice and employer 12 weekly reviews covering progress towards the required knowledge skills and behavior and to include personal development behaviors and welfare and functional skills development and achievement
  • To complete all assessment paperwork as required by the organisation and the awarding/professional bodies and other external agencies to a high standard
