TRADE AND INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION

SUMMARY: Support the Trade and Industrial Education (T&I) division by event planning, organizing, and facilitating statewide leadership camps, conferences, conventions, officers, membership services, and financial responsibilities for the SkillsUSA Oklahoma Career Tech Student Organization.

SALARY/BENEFITS: $56,985.95 - $63,421.34 commensurate with education or experience.

  • The state provides a benefit allowance to help you pay for insurance premiums which include health, dental, life and disability insurance.
  • The amount of your allowance, $9000-$20000, is determined based upon the dependents you choose to include in health coverage.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the event planner for all SkillsUSA Oklahoma camps, conferences, and conventions to include full event organization; budgets, calendar dates, hotels, meals, meeting rooms, and service contracts, promotions, and program content.
  • Attend and participate in local, state, and national conferences and meetings. Provide leadership and represent SkillsUSA Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech (ODCTE) through speaking engagements, conferences, and industry presentations.
  • Provide membership services such as the SkillsUSA Oklahoma website, newsletter, conference programs, posters, brochures, evaluations, plaques, workshops, and implement National SkillsUSA programs and initiates.
  • Provide supervision to the SkillsUSA Oklahoma officers by providing training and evaluation, development of program activities, conference planning, and code of conduct, travel, budgets, and officer meetings.
  • Develop business and industry partners that allow for support of the SkillsUSA Oklahoma organization at the state and national levels.
  • Participate as a team player in the T&I division and ODCTE goals and initiatives. Participate in staff meetings, program direction and decisions, professional development, and customer service for the T&I division.
  • Be available to work extended days as needed.

Total salary and benefits package valued at $71,991.72 - $78,911.50.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents as necessary. Ability to respond to common inquiries, provide customer service, and apply problem-solving techniques to customers, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. Write complex documents in a prescribed format. Ability to effectively present information and communicate complex concepts, innovation, and provide complete situational briefings to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical equations as applicable. (For example: calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume, and applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.)
REASONING SKILLS: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid logical conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Position provides specialized leadership and personal development training designed for secondary and post-secondary students: specialized teamwork training, and knowledge of SkillsUSA and related careers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position officed on-site at CareerTech in Stillwater, OK with the option to utilize field based officing. The position requires reporting to the Stillwater office at the manager’s discretion. Requires moderate travel within the state for industry, school visits, and conferences, along with limited out-of-state travel required. Requires valid Driver’s License.
