Description Health Center Manager Join us as our Sleepaway Camp – Health Center Manager for an enriching and impactful opportunity to support the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff. This leadership role oversees the daily operations of the camp health center, including review and management of camper medical histories and forms, communication with parents/guardians regarding medical needs or concerns, and supervision of medication administration. Working in conjunction with the off-site Health Supervisor and under the direction of the Camp Director, the Health Center Manager ensures compliance with all council, state, and American Camp Association health standards. This position maintains primary responsibility for the health center during camp sessions and plays a critical role in upholding the highest standards of care, safety, and documentation throughout the season. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implement medical protocols under the direction of the off-site Health Supervisor and Camp Director, ensuring all care and medication administration aligns with professional scope of practice and camp guidelines Serve as the primary on-site health professional, providing first aid and medical care to campers and staff; assess situations and coordinate emergency services when necessary Review and manage camper medical records; oversee health procedures at check-in, including medication collection, communicable disease screening, documentation, and end-of-session medication return Administer and document all camper and staff medications, ensuring secure storage and accurate record-keeping Maintain complete and confidential health center records, including incident reports, treatment logs, and required council documentation Ensure compliance with all Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Maryland Youth Camp Regulations, American Camp Association standards, and Camp Conowingo health and safety policies Monitor camp-wide health, safety, and sanitation practices; conduct periodic inspections and recommend improvements as needed Maintain health center inventory, equipment, and supplies, including first aid kits; request replenishment and complete end-of-season inventory reporting Train and support camp staff in first aid procedures, emergency medication use, and health-related policies during pre-camp and in-service trainings Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies with appropriate care, equipment, and documentation Manage health center operations and administrative responsibilities, including organization, reporting, and compliance Model professionalism, sound judgment, and teamwork while fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and excellent customer service for campers, caregivers, volunteers, and staff Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, pre-camp training, and post-camp clean-up General Qualifications for All Camp Staff Flexible, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced camp environment Able to work effectively with diverse groups of campers and adults Team-oriented, able to take initiative, and follow direction as needed Enthusiastic about the outdoors and comfortable living in a rustic setting Time Commitment Seasonal, live-on-site position Includes paid staff training and camp clean-up Two hours of scheduled time off daily and one day off per week Appointment includes pre-camp training One scheduled day off per week (typically Saturday) Skills, Education, and/or Relevant Experience: Must be 18 years or older Must be one of the following: Physician (MD), Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); OR a Certified Medication Technician (CMT) or Certified Medicine Aide (CMA); and/or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED and Medication Administration training for youth camps Must be a Maryland-licensed professional whose scope of practice includes medication administration in a camp setting Must possess current First Aid and CPR certification, or be willing and able to complete certification prior to camper arrival (paid for and arranged during pre-camp training) Demonstrate ability to recognize and respond appropriately to health and safety hazards Demonstrate ability to support both the emotional and physical needs of campers and staff Maintain accurate and confidential medical records Have knowledge of the interests, needs, and abilities of girls of various age levels and experience working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Have the physical stamina required to provide medical care during a 6-day workweek and extended workdays (14+ hours) Possess the visual, auditory, and physical ability to identify and respond quickly to environmental and activity-related hazards Hold a valid driver’s license with clear driving record, proof of insurability, and willingness to drive a 15-passenger van and/or minivan Successfully pass background and fingerprint checks and a drug screening prior to employment and summer residency Salary Description $2,900 - 3,500 stipend for 7 week camp season
