QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (preferred)
  • Professional Certification:


    • ASHA certifiedMA DESE SEI and ACC Endorsement preferred, but not required



      • CORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.

      SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

      child development, disabilities, curriculum frameworks, curriuculum/instructional accommodations and modifications, assessments, IEPs and progress reports, applied behavioral analysis (ABA), inclusive practices, growth mindset, progress monitoring, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, assistive technology/AAC and technology integration, social thinking

      PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

      • Experience teaching English Language learners and in a diverse public school setting
      • Experience with students with special abilities, including students with physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
      • Strong background in inclusive special education practices
      • Experience writing and implementing IEPs
      • Experience creating SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound) IEP and progress goals

      Skills:

      • Creates a welcoming, supportive, and equitable learning environment
      • Plans and implements speech language therapy services that are evidence-based.
      • Conducts and analyzes results from a variety of assessments to identify areas of need, develop targeted student objectives, and/or monitor progress
      • Collects and analyzes data monitoring student progress and adjust practice as needed in order to maximize student growth
      • Empowers students to be critical thinkers who can reflect on their learning, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and implement learned strategies
      • Partners and collaborates with team teachers, department colleagues, and specialists
      • Consults to general education staff, special education colleagues, and families
      • Communicates clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
      • Integrates technology in order to enhance and extend student learning experiences
      • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
      • Demonstrate a belief in a growth mindset for students as well as for self
      • Multi-tasks in a fast-paced, supportive environment meeting time-sensitive deadlines
      • Understands and conforms to professional and ethical standards for SLP
      Responsibilities
