Responsibilities
  • Examine Animals & Provide Preventative Care: Perform physical exams to assess the health of animals and diagnose any medical conditions. Offer advice and guidance on preventive care, such as vaccinations, parasite control, and nutrition to promote long-term health.
  • Diagnose and Treat Illnesses and Injuries: Identify diseases, injuries, or conditions in animals and determine appropriate treatment plans. Prescribe and administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments to animals, following proper dosage and protocols.
  • Surgical Procedures: Perform surgeries, such as spaying, neutering, or more complex operations, ensuring the animal’s safety and recovery.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each animal, tracking health history, treatments, and progress. Follow all regulatory, ethical, and legal standards in veterinary medicine, ensuring safe practices for both animals and staff.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with pet owners about their animals’ conditions, treatments, and care plans, providing education and support as needed.
  • Monitor Recovery: Oversee and monitor post-treatment or post-surgery recovery, ensuring animals heal properly and comfortably.
  • Manage Animal Behaviour: Offer advice and treatment plans for managing behavioral issues, such as anxiety, aggression, or other behavioral concerns.
  • Collaborate with Veterinary Team: Work closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other team members to ensure the best care for animals.
  • Emergency Care: Provide emergency care and medical attention to animals in critical conditions.
  • Stay Updated and Maintain Clinic Equipment: Keep up with the latest veterinary advancements, medical research, and treatment techniques to offer the best possible care. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of medical tools, equipment, and facilities.
