Required Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in having confident constructive conversations with customers, including the skill of navigating difficult conversations
  • 2+ years experience reviewing personal and business financial statements and tax returns for small business loan applicants with revenue up to $25MM
  • 2+ years of judgmental underwriting small business revolving line of credit requests between $100,000.00 and $1,000,000.00
  • Ability to thoroughly analyze personal or business financial statements and tax returns (including pass-through entities) to determine asset quality, cash flow, primary sources of repayment, secondary sources of repayment and communicate findings in a concise manner
  • Proficient in uncovering the customer’s purpose and need for a revolving line of credit and the cash flow drivers of the customer’s Operating Cycle
  • Understanding the quality and liquidity of Accounts Receivable and analyzing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable aging and listing reports
  • Ability to demonstrate proficient analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy while balancing multiple priorities
  • Good working knowledge of Banking Regulations not limited to Fair Lending and Regulation B.
  • Experience meeting high production and quality standards in a fast paced, production environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured matrix environment.

Responsibilities

Wells Fargo is seeking a Small Business Underwriter to support Consumer and Small Business Banking. As a Small Business Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting loans for Small Business customers as well gathering, analyzing, and evaluating risk exposure through appropriate risk documentation and underwriting procedures.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in less complex consumer requests and products with few deviations
  • Identify opportunities for decisions and scoring system improvements
  • Review basic consumer requests related to decisions, products and process
  • Gather information to make appropriate decisions
  • Ensure products meet company and industry guidelines
  • Present recommendations for resolving consumer requests and program risks and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in the programs, collateral, small business requirements and risk
  • Collaborate and consult with managers, internal and external business partners and more experienced underwriters

Job Expectations:

  • 0-30 days: learn systems, polices, procedures and complete assigned development courses.
  • 31-90 days: train one on one with peers (in person/virtual) to learn how to prepare revolving line of credit Credit Approval Presentations (CAP).
  • >90 days: independently prepare and submit Credit Approval Presentations with approval or decline recommendations.
  • Underwrite revolving line of credit loan requests from small business applicants in accordance with bank policy and risk tolerances, in a production environment.
