We are currently recruiting a Small Engine Mechanic to join our team fleet and operations team. The Small Engine Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of small motorized hand tools, mowers, quick cut saws, string trimmers, snow removal equipment, salt spreaders, etc. The candidate will able to troubleshoot, dismantle, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Manual dexterity
• Attention to detail
• Hand-eye co-ordination
• Proven mechanical abilities in gas and diesel automotive repairs
• Experience with routine maintenance operations
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Possess a valid drivers license
• Completion of a program in small engine or equipment repair or 435A certification
• A combination of work experience in the trade and some high school or college courses in small engine or equipment
• G driver’s licence with a clean abstract is required

• Adjust, repair or replace mechanical or electrical system parts and components using hand tools and equipment
• Test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance
• Perform scheduled maintenance service on equipment
• Review work orders and discuss work to be performed with supervisor
• Inspect and test engine, motors and other mechanical components using test devices to diagnose and isolate faults
• Determine estimates of repair cost
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to municipal equipment in order to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable and safe to operate
• Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations
• Other mechanical repair work as required
