Job Details Job Location: Golf Course - Cocoa Beach, FL 32932 SMALL ENGINE REPAIR TECHNICIAN GOLF COURSE EMPLOYMENT INCLUDES A GENEROUS BENEFITS PACKAGE TO INCLUDE PAID TIME OFF, PENSION PLAN, HEALTH COVERAGE, AND MORE GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled work in the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment. Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintains and repairs all golf course equipment; rebuilds and/or overhauls gas, diesel and air-cooled engines on all large and small equipment used in maintaining the golf course; performs engine tune-ups. Maintains grounds keeping equipment including but not limited to grinding reels and bed knives; adjusting reels, belts and chains on mowers; and cleaning and/or rebuilding carburetors on engines. Repairs and/or replaces tires; replaces and/or adjusts brakes; aligns front ends; repairs or replaces shock absorbers; and solders leaks in radiators. Grease and oil moving parts: sharpen blades; and perform various other preventive maintenance to ready equipment for use. Inspects equipment for wear, repairs and/or replacement of parts; instructs grounds crew on proper use and maintenance of equipment; and assists golf course management in the developing specifications for the acquisition of new and/or replacement equipment. Repairs hydraulic systems, pumps, brakes, differentials, clutches, reels, starters, drives and suspension systems. Repairs or replaces parts such as valves, rings and bearings; overhauls or replaces generators, distributors, starters and pumps; welds, diagnoses and repair electrical systems. Cleans and maintains work areas. Estimates need for and requisitions and orders supplies, parts, materials and equipment. Maintains records and prepares simple reports of work accomplished and materials used. Uses the computer system to keep records of the preventative maintenance performed as well as the repairs done on fleet of the golf course equipment and to order parts to maintain the fleet. Oversees and trains other staff members assigned to work with this position. Sets up preventative maintenance schedule and performs work to carry out this schedule. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related work as required. Qualifications MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school and 2 to 3 years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and small engine repair, preferably supplemented with vocational classes in mechanical repair; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must know how to rebuild and repair reel cutting units. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT Employee is required to provide all tools necessary to perform all equipment and service functions required by the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of hand tools. Must be physically able to operate various pieces of golf course equipment. Requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the ability to maintain body equilibrium when bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching and/or stretching arms, legs or other parts of body to grasp, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Heavy Work.
Responsibilities
