This position is responsible for selling and servicing group business from all markets and regions, primarily handling 20 room nights or less, day groups and small group room blocks while maximizing revenues for all areas of the resort.
The Small Group Sales & Events Manager assists in the overall efficient operation of the Group Sales department, manages accounts to achieve sales and catering targets and solicits new and past business to ensure revenue goals are met and exceeded.
This position will ensure a positive overall impression of the resort as well as assist with all aspects of sales and catering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hotel/Resort work experience an asset
  • Event Planning work experience an asset
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Strong passion in guest service
  • Proven ability to work in team environment and independently at times
  • Strong computer literacy skills in MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and have a strong ability to prioritize

Responsibilities
  • Prospect for new business by participating in sales blitzes, cold calling and contacting former clients to solicit new business.
  • Attend industry events and programs
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Respond in a timely manner to incoming group and catering business opportunities
  • Utilize negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts
  • Conduct resort on-site inspections and client presentations
  • Create proposals, contract, BEO’s (Banquet Event Orders) and other related booking documentation
  • Detail events to include all food & beverage, set-up, timings, audio-visual requirements
  • Manage and maintain client account files
  • Determine appropriate questions for the client, make suggestions to ensure details meet both the group and resort’s needs
  • Create group resumes and communicate client needs to all departments of the resort
  • Ensure resort staff follow through on all group needs
  • Assist with departmental administration tasks such as BEO’s and Group Resume distribution
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned based on business levels throughout the resort and organizational changes as directed
