ABOUT OLDS COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE & TECHNOLOGY
Founded in 1913, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology has been offering high quality hands-on education for over a century. Through our core programming including continuing education, online and blended programming, we provide accessible educational opportunities within Alberta and beyond. We are passionate about the Agriculture industry. Through our applied research and integrated learning, we are proud to be Canada’s Smart Agriculture College, specializing in agriculture, agrifood, horticulture, land and environmental stewardship. We work closely with industry to advance and adapt our programming to ensure our graduates have the skills to succeed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- A minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education in a related field or a minimum of 5 years related work experience in a mixed livestock and land-based farm operation
- Ability to stand and bend for extended periods of time and lift 50+ lbs
- Crop production experience with a base knowledge of agronomic principles and practices
- Demonstrated animal husbandry experience and ability to ensure livestock well-being including the diagnosis and treatment of any health concerns in a pasture and feedlot setting
- High performance standards with excellent work ethic
- Organized, detail-oriented professional with leadership experience and an ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and customer service skills with co-workers, clients and subcontractors
- Demonstrate a strong dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity by actively seeking out and valuing diverse perspectives, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals of all backgrounds, and continuously striving to create a culture of respect and understanding
- Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office and Google applications
- Class 3 Driver’s license with Air Endorsement - comfortable operating trailers including large farm equipment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses
- Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies
- Available to work outside of regular office hours including weekends plus a rotation for “on-call” for after hours call outs
