Overview:
The SmartPlant 3D Administrator is responsible for using best IT practice and is knowledgeable of internal or external issues to improve the Engineering Pillar within CB&I IT. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Engineering Pillar. They solve complex problems and use their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The SmartPlant 3D Administrator impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the IT Pillar Team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.
The SmartPlant 3D Administrator can work from either office location: The Woodlands, TX or Plainfield, IL. The SmartPlant 3D Administrator position is an Individual Contributor role. The role directly reports to the Manager IT Engineering Pillar and routinely interacts with Global IT, Global Engineering, Project Management, and Global Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist design team in preparing the 3D CAD Coordination Procedure for the project.
  • Setup, configure and manage, new/existing S3D projects in compliance with client, project or corporate standards.
  • A good knowledge of developing and administering piping specifications and the ability to assist the Piping Specification Team in aspects like interface between SPRD, SMAT and Smart 3D, testing and validation of new components and symbols.
  • Create catalog components for project use and their promotion to the corporate catalog.
  • Configure Smart 3D project deliverable templates including project-level piping isometric drawings styles, drawing view styles and report templates.
  • Liaise with engineering discipline leads for the smooth functioning of projects.
  • Support / Guide the design team for any issues (all disciplines).
  • Set up Interference Detection Service. Configure codeless rules for clashes clean up. Provide reports according to projects requirements. Support the project to uncover the real clashes that require attention.
  • Configuration of MTO reports and scheduling according to project requirements for interface with Smart Materials.
  • Configure weight and COG reports. Assist engineering and SPRD teams in the configuration of the catalog for weight and COG computing.
  • Configuration of piping supports library according to project or corporate requirements. Be able to adequate corporate standards to project specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with the disciplines the setup, creation and update of deliverables using the configured templates. Assist disciplines in the process and write supporting documentation.
  • Good understanding of the spooling process and the configuration in Smart3D as needed and interface with Spoolgen.
  • Setup Smart3D in a Global Workshare Configuration (GWC) environment with database replication. Interact with engineering disciplines and translate the split of scope of work to Smart3D Hierarchy, Location and Permission Groups that support this approach.
  • Configure the extraction and update of Model Review sessions in SPRDirect (VUE/MDB2) and 3D Model Data (VUE/XML) formats for visualization in SPR. Configure the conversion to Navisworks format (XML). Schedule the update of the entire process on a daily basis or as required by the project.
  • Configure and schedule as needed the conversion of other 3D reference models to R3D format using SPIOP. Incorporate 3D reference models into Smart3D, SPR and Navisworks as needed.
  • Configure and schedule the publishing of Smart 3D documents like 3D Model Data, piping isometrics, drawings and reports.
  • Generate weekly progress reports for 3D administration.
  • Create local backups of running projects as necessary.
  • Manage Smart 3D databases performing periodical maintenance, integrity check and clean up.
  • Participate in the development of new custom applications used to support and automate the Smart 3D tasks.
  • Provide training in Smart 3D and user support.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline, and or, equivalent experience.
  • 8+ Years of experience in engineering design with at least 5 years in Smart 3D administration.
  • Hands-on experience with engineering 3D modeling technologies and methodologies in a Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Engineering & Construction industry.
  • Successful completion of the Hexagon provided Smart 3D Administrator training courses or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Hands on management and administration of large projects (with 20+ users) executed using the Smart 3D Application.
  • Experience executing Smart3D project in Global Workshare Configuration environment.
  • Knowledge in Spoolgen and TEKLA.
  • Experience integrating Smart 3D with SmartPlant Foundation.
  • Experience executing and configuring Smart 3D on a SmartPlant Enterprise integrated environment using correlation with other authoring tools like SPPID, SPEL and SPI for data consistency.
  • Experience configuring Smart 3D deliverables including piping isometrics, orthographic drawings, reports, SPRDirect and 3D Model Data.
  • Experience configuring piping supports in Smart 3D.
  • Experience handling and converting vendor data for use in S3D using SPIOP.
  • Exposure to Oracle and MSSQL Server databases.
  • Experience configuring client laser scan point cloud data into S3D, SPR and Navisworks.
  • Experience creating client limited size STEP files for ingestion into the client overall plant model.
