We are currently seeking a reliable and attentive Smoking Monitor to ensure compliance with our smoking policies and to promote safety on our premises.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Smoking Monitor is responsible for supervising designated smoking areas, ensuring residents follow facility safety guidelines, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. This position plays a key role in supporting resident rights while upholding facility policies and fire safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults or in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
  • Strong observation and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, patience, and compassion.
  • Ability to work independently and follow facility policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise residents in designated smoking areas at scheduled times.
  • Ensure that facility smoking policies, safety procedures, and fire-prevention measures are strictly followed.
  • Provide reminders and guidance to residents regarding proper smoking protocols.
  • Report any unsafe behaviors, incidents, or violations to nursing or administrative staff promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of smoking areas (emptying ashtrays, disposing of waste properly).
  • Assist residents with mobility to and from the smoking area as needed (within scope of role).
  • Document observations and incidents in accordance with facility procedures.
