REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD, first class or 2:1 from well ranked university
  • 10+ years hardware Design experience (or equivalent)
  • Proven commercial experience developing complex PCIe products using ASIC/FPGA’s, DC-DC converters, DDR, QSPI FLASH, Microcontrollers, low jitter clock design, knowledge of PCIe Electromechanical specifications
  • Proven experience of using CAD Tools (Orcad/Allegro) for circuit/PCB design and exposure to use of SI/PI tools for High speed design.
  • Proven experience of using Instrumentation for design/validation - High Speed Oscilloscopes, Analysers, I2C/SPI Analysers.
  • Familiarity with Regulatory Compliance Testing and requirements
  • Familiarity of using Agile PLM for Bills of Material control/release
  • Experience of python and other scripting languages
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of server system architectures e.g. PCI-Express
  • Good to have: Experience of Linux Systems, C programming, use of XJTAG for Product Testing.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

This is an exciting role in the AMD Network Technology Group based in the Cambridge UK office. You will be part of a key Boards engineering team developing Hardware for next-generation networking for cloud and hyperscale data centre operators and for AMD’s AI systems
The role will involve working with different teams both within Cambridge office and across AMD sites worldwide: working closely with the Silicon, Firmware Teams and Product Management to define Board Architecture; working with Global Operations to design and develop cost effective working systems and take these products to Mass Production. This will specifically involve circuit design using the Schematics Capture package, supervising PCB Layouts/SI/PI, BOM release through Agile PLM, board bring-up and detailed design validation.
