Description Under the supervision of the Nutritional Services Director or Supervisor, the Snack Bar worker performs a variety of food services, including serving food to employees and visitors. Also is responsible for the clean-up and stocking of the snack bar and food preparation areas. This is a part-time position and may require working on weekends. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Position Description: Maintains serving line in a clean, neat and organized manner; requests replenishments as needed. Serves hot and cold food on serving lines to visitors and employees. Replenishes the salad bar and keeps it clean. Replenishes silverware, napkins, cups, straws, condiments, etc. Assists in general food preparation and service as required, assists on tray line, cafeteria line or snack bar as required and cross-trains for and performs the duties of other positions in the department as assigned. Makes coffee; ensures coffee machines stay full. Ensures all beverage containers are full, i.e., soda, ice tea, juices. Breaks down cafeteria line, covers, identifies and stores/refrigerates leftovers for future use. Wipes down tables and chairs in the cafeteria throughout the day with a hospital-approved cleaner. Clears any soiled dishes/trays; scrapes refuse into garbage containers; loads dishes/trays onto cleaning racks; rinses dishes/utensils. Disposes of trash/garbage in the appropriate manner. Loads and operates dishwashers; trays, dishes, cups, silverware; inspects cleaning to assure quality performance. Puts clean dishes and utensils away. Washes specified items by hand: pots, pans, knives, etc. Cleans refrigerators, freezers and other cafeteria equipment. Mops floors as scheduled and as needed. Puts away stock inventory; notifies supervisor when stock item needs ordered. Performs special cleaning duties as assigned by supervisor. Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments. Treats patients/families/visitors with respect and dignity. Observes infection prevention and control practices at all times; processes food items according to safe food handling procedures. Operates equipment safely and correctly. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal and state. Professional Requirements: Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual education requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards. Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion. Attends annual review and performs departmental inservices. Attends all staff meetings; reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes as necessary. Actively participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. Aware of all Emergency Disaster Plans and how to respond if a Disaster occurs. Works effectively with others, demonstrates leadership and teaching ability and the ability to work under pressure. Appreciation of and desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing patients optimal care. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
