  Position Summary This position performs year-round maintenance and grooming as required to provide Powderhorn guests with a safe and enjoyable experience.  Duties vary by season.   The Summer Trail Crew is responsible for performing various tasks to prepare the mountain for the upcoming ski season. Primary Responsibilities/Duties * Responsibilities include maintenance and grooming of trails and slopes * Operate slope grooming equipment in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with company procedures and departmental training * Perform pre- and post-trip inspections (including removal of snow from frame at end of shift) * Monitor and prepare for winter weather and wind conditions * Work closely with, and assist other departments such as Snow Making, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations and Special Events * Recognize and report unusual noises and/or performance issues to Fleet Maintenance * Prepare race courses and start ramps as needed * Prepare and maintain terrain and tube parks * Perform snow removal and snow farming (including snowmaking and snow fencing) * Relay grooming information to Communications Manager for completion of daily grooming report * Record and report any potential hazards and assist in emergency situations * Be familiar with and follow the policies and procedures outlined in the grooming manual * Abide by all mountain rules and regulations at all times * Other duties as assigned  QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be at least 18 years old * Must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license * Mechanical understanding of basic operations and maintenance of equipment * Knowledge of Powderhorn's terrain and operations is an asset * Ability to communicate effectively * Must understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures * Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and make on the spot decisions depending on the weather * Must be able to use good judgment in emergency and hazardous situations * MUST HAVE PRIOR OPERATING EXPERIENCE EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION High School Diploma or GED Experience Previous experience operating Snowcats  or comparable equipment with excellent safety record Heavy equipment operation experience (preferably dozer and blade experience) WORKING CONDITIONS:                     * Must be able to navigate slippery and uneven terrain * Requires working outdoors in extreme weather  (cold, wind, snow, rain, heat), night time and on uneven terrain * Lifting, dragging heavy hoses and snow guns, snowmobiles, and snow shoveling * Use of snowmobiles and ATVs as transportation in adverse weather and rough terrain * Outdoors at high altitude (approximately 8200 feet to 9850 feet) and temperatures sometimes reaching 90 degrees in summer and well below 0 in winter. * Must use proper footwear, eye and hearing protection and gloves * Must wear hard hat, chaps and harness (will be provided) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Physically able to perform the job * Be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. * Ability to walk, bend over and move equipment on steep and uneven terrain * Must have normal vision and hearing * Must have the ability to work outdoors in extreme cold and wet weather conditions * Must be physically capable of operating and maintaining equipment WORK SCHEDULE: Must be able to work overnight shifts as well as weekends and holidays
