SUMMARY

As a Shovel Crew Lead on the Winter Maintenance Team, you will be essential in ensuring safe and efficient snow removal and winter maintenance operations by transporting and assisting other members of the Team from site to site. You will assist with, and oversee, the quality control of this Team’s snow clearing efforts, by ensuring that the work is completed as per specifications outlined in each Client’s Winter Maintenance Agreement. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will utilize your core skills in leading a team to perform tasks effectively. Your safe driving knowledge will enhance your performance, and will contribute to the team’s overall safety.
Seeking experienced, mature, reliable, & detail-oriented individuals to join our Winter Maintenance Team. This position requires a VALID, ONTARIO CLASS G DRIVER’S LICENCE, with the incumbent(s) being comfortable driving a mid-size pick-up Truck, while towing a mid-size Utility Trailer. This position will require the use of a SNOW SHOVEL AND/OR SIDEWALK CLEARING MACHINE to clear snow from Sidewalks/Walkways on primarily Commercial & some Residential properties in the Orillia area. SHIFTS ARE PRIMARILY OVERNIGHT/EARLY MORNING START TIMES. YOU MUST ANSWER THE PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Perform routine Circle Checks and top up Fluids and/or Fuel as necessary (on Truck used to transport Crew to each Site);
  • Follow a pre-determined Route and Clear Snow from Sidewalks/Walkways/Driveways on Commercial & Residential Properties;
  • Accurately complete Route Log Sheets and/or Electronic Logs;
  • Communicate with fellow Crew Members and Office Dispatch via Two-Way Radio’s to ensure expedient and efficient Service to all properties;
  • Ability to commit to working the duration of the Winter Maintenance Season as required, (up to and including April 30, 2025);
  • Physically-fit and capable of working outdoors in extreme temperatures for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, while pushing/lifting snow;
  • Ability to work a variety of Shifts including days, evening, overnight, weekends, & holidays, including extended hours;
  • 2 Pieces of Valid, Government-issued Photo Identification, in additional to a Valid Ontario Social Insurance Number;
  • Legally-entitled to work for payment in the Province of Ontario;
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

For those candidates with demonstrable ability in being able to operate one or more pieces of equipment, with appropriate prior experience and Licence to do so (ie. Plow Trucks, Salt Trucks, Front-End Loaders, Skid Steers, Farm Tractors, etc…), we would entertain a Split Pay Rate to compensate at a higher Pay Rate when operating Equipment. Qualified Winter Maintenance Crew Members are given first opportunity to transfer to a Full-Time Position on our Paving & Pavement Maintenance Crew in the Spring. Employment would then be year-round.
