About the role BOQ Group is undertaking a major digital banking transformation, modernising our Internet Banking platforms through cloud‑native architectures, DevOps practices, and AI‑assisted software delivery. The Senior Frontend Engineer plays a key role in delivering secure, scalable and high‑quality customer‑facing web applications, while contributing to the continuous improvement of frontend engineering standards, CI/CD pipelines, and AI‑enabled development workflows. This role operates within a cross‑functional DevOps team and partners closely with product, UX, backend engineering and platform teams. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain customer‑facing Internet Banking applications using modern React‑based architectures Act as a frontend subject‑matter expert, contributing to engineering standards, patterns, and technical decisions Build and improve frontend CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable and secure releases Collaborate with UX designers to translate design systems and Figma templates into reusable, production‑ready React components Embed web security and accessibility best practices across all frontend solutions Participate in DevOps delivery, including build, test, release and production support Review and uplift code quality through effective peer reviews and automated testing AI‑Augmented Engineering Responsibilities Use AI‑assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) to accelerate frontend delivery, refactoring, and code quality improvement Create and maintain reusable prompt templates or instruction patterns to support repeatable frontend engineering tasks Support AI‑driven design‑to‑code workflows by validating and refining AI‑generated frontend code Ensure AI‑generated code meets BOQ standards for security, performance, accessibility and maintainability Actively identify opportunities where AI can improve engineering efficiency and consistency, within Responsible AI guardrails About You You are a passionate frontend engineer with strong experience building modern, scalable web applications using ReactJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern web standards including HTML5, CSS3, SCSS/LESS. You are comfortable working with JSON, REST APIs, and AJAX, and enjoy creating clean, maintainable code that delivers intuitive user experiences. You bring solid engineering fundamentals, including an appreciation for functional programming concepts, and are confident working with source control platforms such as GitHub and Azure DevOps. You have experience contributing to and supporting CI/CD pipelines for frontend applications, and you bring working knowledge of Azure Function Apps and Web Apps, enabling you to collaborate effectively across platform and cloud services. Quality, security, and performance are core to how you work. You value unit testing and Test Driven Development, understand key web security principles such as XSS, CSRF, and secure authentication flows, and consistently strive to optimise application performance and accessibility in line with WCAG standards. You enjoy working closely with UX and UI designers, translating designs into accessible, high-performing digital experiences.
