Based at the Alkimos site, the Senior Industrial Relations Advisor will provide strategic advice and guidance on a range of industrial and employee relations matters. You will collaborate with senior and frontline leaders to promote best practice and achieve best for project outcomes.
The Project
The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert industrial relations advice, including Project Agreement interpretation, Fair Work legislation compliance, and payroll guidance.
  • Lead complex ER/IR case management, including disputes, investigations, performance matters, and proactive IR strategy development.
  • Act as primary liaison with union representatives, managing consultation, negotiation, dispute resolution, and right of entry processes.
  • Support collective bargaining and enterprise agreement negotiations, ensuring accurate union interaction records are maintained.
  • Coach and guide managers, HR Advisors, and procurement teams to ensure correct application of agreements and effective employee relations handling.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders and operational teams, representing the organisation in external forums and negotiations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by contributing to people initiatives, capturing IR data, enhancing policies, and improving processes across the project.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law or related discipline
  • Experience in managing and providing advice on disciplinary matters, investigations and resolving disputes
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, including award and enterprise agreement interpretation
  • Proven ability in managing change processes
  • Advanced communication skills and an ability to build and leverage strong relationships to influence a broad range of stakeholders, including senior and frontline leaders
  • Ideally you will have experience in large infrastructure projects supporting head contractors as well as subcontractors
