The Opportunity: The Sobering Centre Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services provided to clients accessing the Sobering Centre by providing a safe, trauma informed and welcoming environment where a person who is intoxicated due to alcohol and/or other substance use may be able to stay as an alternative to incarceration for public intoxication, or inappropriate hospital admission through the Emergency Department.

  • Screens individuals to determine eligibility as per the criteria and completes intake
  • Provides an initial assessment of the needs of the client
  • Collaborates with other multidisciplinary team members and physicians to facilitate an inter-professional approach to standards of practice with a focus on promoting team-based care.
  • Supervise and support Sobering Centre Workers; may perform the same duties as workers supervised

What You Will Bring to The Role: 3 bullets of main qualifications

  • Two-year Social Services Diploma
  • Certification with the Indigenous Certification Board of Canada an asset
  • Minimum of Minimum two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
