1. Context Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing. Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience. We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need. Job Profile The Social Assistant will be based at a Health facility to strengthen the referral pathways and facilitate women and girls’ access to information and services. Additionally, the Social Assistant will oversee and provide support to the hotline. The Social Assistant together with the Protection Officer and Assistant will ensure the adoption of safe and confidential protection services in the PHC’s and the availability and suitability of information and guidance on services and activities available for women and girls. The Social Assistant will also assist in providing limited case management services (more focus on referrals) according to the principles of safety, confidentiality and integrity. The Social Assistant reports to the Protection Officer. This position is based in Syria. 3. Key Responsibilities Support direct access to Case Management services in the Health Facilities, provide clients with information on available services and facilitate referrals Ensure strict adherence to safety and confidentiality for all case-related information; protect the identities of clients in the design and implementation of all activities Assist Health staff in integrating a survivor centered approach in HF’s services. Assist the Protection Officer in the implementation of any Protection activity in the partner PHCs (such as capacity building of Health Staff); Monitor the EPP hotline and ensure referral pathways are updated Assist and participate in the dissemination of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials in the HPC’s particularly integrating it in Health-related awareness activities. Assist in the collection of data and statistics of Health Workers activities in HPC’s that are relevant for the protection program (e.g. gather documentation on join Health and Protection awareness activities) and shared with the M&E Assistant, following internal procedures. Inform Protection Officer or Senior Protection Officer of any issue faced in the day-to-day activities and challenges in mainstreaming GBV into HPC’s services. Assess the knowledge and utilization of health and other services available for survivors of GBV. Work closely with CHW to ensure awareness of services in the community, facilitate referrals into and out of the community center, and to support clients on GBV protection related needs. Discuss any difficulties and problems related to the activities with supervisor. Perform any other duties as required by supervisor. 4. Person Specification Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role. • Degree/diploma in counselling, social work or related area (desired); area (desired). • 1 year experience is desirable, preferably with NGOs. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic are essential. • Good English language skills preferred. • Will have excellent self-motivation skills. • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. • Comfortable working in resource-deprived environment. • Good stamina to stand and work for long hours. • Adaptable and capable of working well under pressure. • Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently without supervision. • A strong propensity for flexibility, teamwork, and creative thinking will be essential to this job.
