Responsibilities

As a Social Care Officer at Bury Council, you play a vital role in supporting individuals and families across the community to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives. This is a career built on empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to public service.

Your responsibilities are grounded in fulfilling the Council’s statutory duties, particularly under the Care Act 2014 and related adult social care legislation. These include:

  • Conducting needs assessments and developing personalised care and support plans.
  • Safeguarding adults by identifying and responding to concerns in line with statutory frameworks.
  • Promoting independence and wellbeing through access to appropriate services and community resources.
  • Ensuring legal compliance in areas such as mental capacity, deprivation of liberty safeguards, and care planning.
  • Collaborating with partners across health, housing, and voluntary sectors to deliver coordinated support.
